How to upgrade RAM on HP Pavilion dv6000 ?

Hello!

I am using a HP Pavilion dv6000 notebook, with a 32-bit Vista business, 2 processors of Genuine Intel with 1.73GHz each, and only 1GB of RAM.

I would like to upgrade the RAM to 4GB, but I don't know if that's possible, and/or how to do that. I hope you guys can help me.

We need to know the exact model number from the tag on the bottom of the laptop. You can then just check by model number with Crucial at crucial.com to check max memory specs. Some of the dv6000s max at 2 gigs as you likely already know. 2 gigs is dirt cheap and would be a major improvement. With 32 bit Vista even if you install 4 gigs only 3 will be available for Windows to use. So 2 gigs is your best bet anyway. The difference between 1 gig and 2 is huge, the difference between 2 and 3 is negligible, in my opinion.

3(& change) Gigs is the MOST that you can upgrade 32 bit Vista with.  I agree that 2G is an optimal amount, unless money is no object.  You have two slots and need 1G x 2 modules.  Use one of the several memory upgrade tools you will find if you Google "notebook memory upgrade" to determine the exact specifications

Says on chip "replace with 434741-001" for a  512MB 2Rx16 PC2-5300S-555-12-A3

Want to go to full 2 GB chips or a 2 GB and a 1 GB, whatever to get the right one.

What is the correct chip to order and from who?
