Please find the BIOS and touchpad drivers below
All drivers and s/w for your system can be found here. However I suspect your issue is most likely a h/w problem.
I am an HP employee!!

Dear Sir/Madam,
I have an HP Pavillon dm4-2165dx, product: QE375UA#ABA. The touchpad suddenly turns of during typing (orange light turns on). I notice by searching the web that others have the same problem, but I have not yet seen a clear resolution of that problem. I have tried the downloads. I purchased the computer while in the USA in December. Please let me know how to resolve this, even it if involves taking the computer to an authorized HP dealer in the Geneva, Switzerland area (at the expense of HP, of course). Sadly, I am also an HP stockholder (mistake). This a great disappointment for me as an HP stockholder and consumer. Thank you.

Same problem here. I just bought a HP Pavilion dm4-2180us 14'' laptop. The mouse touchpad very often stop responding completely. I've installed the touchpad driver and updated the BIOS. None of these approaches worked.
My product information is: product (model) #: QE374UA.
Please help! Thanks!

Well, I have a DM4T, less than 3 weeks old. I have been having issues with my touchpad too. I just figured out that it only happens when the laptop is plugged in. Could it be a partial short? Any other ideas?

HP has been putting together lapops for how many years?? And they can't install a mouse touchpad that works reliably? I'm in complete disbelief.
I have the exact same issue. At some point, the mouse left click just ceases to work. I have to hold the power button down to shut the computer off and then reboot it. This is ridiculous!
My model Pavilion dm4-3050US

WORST TOUCHPAD IN THE HISTORY OF LAPTOPS
I cannot begin to tell you the frustration of using this laptop. Judging by the 7000+ hits on this topic, I am far from alone finding this laptop TOTALLY UNPRODUCTIVE. Just typing that second sentence the mouse has wandered over the word 'alone' and starting 'laptop' in the middle. I reported this to Support, escalated, sent it back to 'factory' for hardware check, and, as I mentioned, HP thinks the 7000 of us are crazy.
Wherevter the cursor roams, the HYPERSENSATIVE pad randomly selectste it - a hyperlink, text, scrollbars, etc. NlcO ONE at HP can understand the concept
"if I want to select something, I WILL left/right CLICK".
Simply unbearable, but I have written this $700 off and use this as a couch potato piece of junk and use my old laptop for anything I really need done. I want my money back, but they have beaten me to death wasting my time. And, that cute little light to turn the touchpad on/off is another hairbrained headache.
I have lost all confidence in HP because of this.. they just don't grasp, care, or acknowlege the problem. if they delete this post i will go public, or better yi'llet, i'll keep a copy of this..
please excuse my typos.. i am tired of fixing the 'jumps' that putting my keystrokes in the wrong words
