Re: Hp Pavilion dm4 touchpad problems

Dear All,

I'd sent the earlier message under "badtouchpad".   No useful information from HP, which is rather sad.  However, having played around with this, I believe I found a possible solution to my touchpad problem.  Perhaps this will help others.

In "control panel" go to "mouse properties" and then to "others".  Under "usage of touchpad and ps/2 mouse" check the box for "use touchpad and ps/2 mouse" as opposed to the default "enable touchpad automatically when you log on".  I did this and have not had a problem since.

What makes me rather sad is that HP did not suggest this.   One wonders who is monitoring the forum.

Perhaps this solution is specific to my laptop, but, as an HP shareholder and a formerly frustrated owner of the Pavillon dm4, I wanted to share this.   My problem appears to have been eliminated.

Best regards

After doing some research online, I found this solution. I had the same problem as all of you, and I recommend you try this! http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Other-Notebook-PC-Questions/HP-Pavilion-TouchPad-not-working/m-p/148681...

I have been experiencing problems with my touchpad for the past few weeks, but normally, once I restart, everything is resolved. This time around, I have restarted my computer and the touchpad and mouse buttons do not work. After researching the internet, I found that maybe doing a system restore would work, but still no results. I am not sure what else to do.

Re: Hp Pavilion dm4 touchpad problems

HP Pavilion DM4-3000, Win7 Home premium.

My problem started after I installed a Logitch wireless mouse w. Nano USB receiver.

Tapping the pad opens the context menu. Leftclick does the same sometimes - and sometimes it does the select. The confusing thing is that it's not consistent.

The Logitech mouse works as it should.

I have checked properties of the mouse and the touchpad and all looks fine.

I've tried reversing to a system restore prior to when I installed the Logitch - no change.

I've rebooted, run diagnostics, tried the different solutions described here in this forum - no luck.

Help :smileyfrustrated:

I gave up solving the issue through reinstall of drivers etc.

I solved my problem by reinstalling my notebook from the recovery partition i.e. a complete reinstall to factory settings. After that my touchpad worked again as it should. I then installed the proper logitech driver before plugging in my mouse - and this time it did not give any issues.

So why this happedned in the first place ...?

The answer is blowing in the wind.
