Hp g62 flashing caps lock

Hi folks!

I have a g62-339wm laptop that I purchased about a year ago and out of the blue it will not boot or even post anymore. Screen is blank also, all it does is the caps lock led flashes once every 5 seconds. No screen or beeps the fan turns on tho:/

I've searched for this problem and all I can find is issues when the caps lock and number lock both flash at the same time not just the caps lock.

Any ideas?

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly!! I checked both those links you gave me out and it would seem that a bad processor is the culprit with the caps lock key flashing once every 5 seconds but now when I go to turn it on the caps lock light either stays on solidly or doesn't come on at all.... Now what in the world could that mean??

Please try to reseat the memory stick on your unit and have it checked.

I pulled both sticks out and put them in one at a time and tested them in another laptop and they worked fine but still no luck on the g62. Any other ideas??

Hey all I know it has been a while since I've been on here but I got a little frustrated with it and let it sit it hopes it would fix itself but no luck  I would like to ask if anyone has any other ideas of something for me to try or anything I can test. I have a good multimeter that I know how to use and I am not afraid of taking the laptop apart!

I have a similar problem. My laptop was working perfectly when I shut it down and it wouldn't start again. I came to the conclusion that never will I buy an HP laptop with an AMD processor. I will be replacing the processor and will let you knpow if i works.

I changed the processor but it not did work. it is very frustrating.

Hmmm I was really hoping that would fix it! I wonder if the whole motherboard needs replacing. I can only imagine how much one of those are for a laptop :-(
