I have an HP Pavilion dv9500, with Windows Vista. I discovered last week that it is supposed to have infrared capabilities.
I found the infrared remote,in the bag, installed the battery, tried it, but it didn't work. I bought a new battery and installed it. It still didn't work. I went to help, and found the instructions to enable infrared. It directed me to the device manager, and select the infrared device and enable. Problem is, there is no infrared in the device manager. The infrared lens can be seen on the front edge of the pc. All of the documentation indicates that it has infrared capabilities. I figure that I may need to obtain drivers, but I first need the device to associate them with. I'm stumped? I went to add hardware, but I don't know, from the list, which infrared device to select, If that is possible.
(Sorry. My first posting didn't save the narrative. I just realized that.)
