Intermittent sound from internal speakers w Presario CQ60-420US

Sound from internal speakers stops working, first it was just occasionally, now it has stopped working totally.  Sound from headphone jack works fine.  Tried all the software trouble shooting, no problem found.  Suspect a hardware problem.  One year old Compaq Presario CQ60-420US Notebook PC w Vista Home Premium  32 bit OS.
