I would just like to thank you very very much I was about to send my husbands laptop off to the repair shop after my daughter dropped it and the enter key stopped working , I saw your post and decided to try the hard reset and it worked thank you so so much you saved me a huge aguement and about $100.00 bucks

I take it you have tried the hard reset, last known good configuration, and safe mode options without success.
Does the trackpad work without issue?
If you use a USB keyboard, provided one is available for testing, does it let you enter the password?
If so, then it may just need a reinitialization of the keyboard driver.
If a USB keyboard is not available and the trackpad works, then you should be able to activate the on-screen keyboard to at least get signed in. This can be done by clicking on the ease of access icon in the lower-right or left corner and selecting on-screen keyboard.
Once signed in, open the Start menu.
Right-click Computer and select manage.
Select device manager on the left.
Expand the Keyboards section.
Right-click and select uninstall on each item listed under keyboard. Follow the prompts each time to uninstall it.
Reboot the system. Windows should automatically install the driver at next startup (it may take a moment after the login screen appears).
Let me know what happens.
