Keyboard problems

I've recently started having trouble with my HP Pavilion dv8000. Lately, the number of mouseclicks required to open a link has started fluctuating and the typing cursor will spontaneously stop printing keystrokes. Also, the cursor likes to highlight an entire body of text and then delete it without the command. This began recently and is now in addition to the normal software problems that have plagued the computer since I got it. The most irritating of these has been the random switching to total SHIFT and refusing to switch back. The only way to fix that problem is to restart the computer.

I was just wondering if anyone could help figure out why these things are happening and how I could possibly fix them. I suspect it may be the driver, but I'm not terribly knowledgeable about computers. I only know how to fabricate electronics, not get them to play nicely with each other.

Thanks,

Matt

PS: This post was very hard to type as the cursor kept highlighting everything and took multiple clicks to return to typing. However, I did search the forum for similar posts first and found nothing.

Re: Keyboard problems

[ Edited ]

I am also experiencing the same problems with my dv8000. I have scanned for viruses and spyware with numerous different scanners with no result. This is not a malware problem as I am a certified technician. There has to be something wrong with this model's keyboard. It is not fun to try and type anything. The keyboard tabs out of what your are typing in and deletes random things and thats just the half of it. If anyone knows what the deal is let me know PLEASE. I have reinstalled the keyboard driver and that has not done anything either. Is the hardware itself bad?

Thanks,

Ryan
