Laptop screen won't turn on

I recently got a used laptop, a pavilion dv7 and the screen won't turn on, the power comes on but the screen doesn't, i also have another laptop which is a pavilion ze1000, and I was wondering if there was someway to take out everything from the old laptop and put the newer laptop components in it, or I was wondering if it might be a problem with the graphics card, and I was wondering if I could put the pavilion ze1000 graphics card into the dv7 just as like a makeshift graphics card for a while, can I do it? Their both pavilions.

No there is nothing from the ze1000 that can go in the dv7 or vice versa. There is no graphics card in either laptop....the video chip is soldered to the motherboard. On the dv7 can you give us the full model number? Can you get the dv7 to display to an external monitor?

Are you able to connect the laptop to an external monitor or TV using the HDMI port? This will verify if the video card/chip is working. If you get video while it is connected that way, then the problem may be the screen. If you still do not receive video than the video chip might be the problem. Let me know what happens.

Also do you hear any beeping or the Windows starting chime when the laptop turns on?
