Lightscribe not recognised

I am hoping there is someone here who can help me. I have scoured several threads here and on lightscribe forums and I'm not seeing a resolve. I wouldn't say I'm a novice user, so hopefully I am not wasting anyones time.

I recently bought a HP DM4 1300ea laptop (64-bit Windows 7 home), I'm trying to use Roxio 10 to burn the LS disc but don't even get that far... It's quite shocking that a new HP netbook with built-in LS drive doesn't come shipped with the LS software, and in week one I'm having to work hard to get this LS drive to work.

I have installed (1.18.23.1), the diagnostics tool also - the drive is not recognised as lightscribe. I uninstalled and used HP firmware from the support site for this PC which install v1.18.22.2. Still no luck.

I think I need to update DVD drivers... drive shows as "HP CDDVDW TS-U633J" and driver is Microsoft from 2006 (v6.1.7600.16385) which looks like standard DVD drivers. HP support site has nothing and all I can find when I google this are dodgy driver websites... such as http://www.pcpitstop.com/drivers/download/hp~CDDVDW~TS-U633J.html

I'd really appreciate some help here :smileyhappy:

Re: Lightscribe not recognised

Are you sure that the optical drive has lightscibe? Occurring to the model's spec sheet lightscibe is not mentioned, that usually means that the drive does not have lightscibe

Re: Lightscribe not recognised

I'm not so sure now. The website said it was but nothing in the documentation backs that up. I've given up and am happy with the old marker pen... Thanks so much for your reply though!
