Memory upgrade in DV 2008 ea

Hello guys,

i have an hp 2008 ea with 1 Gb of RAM (2 x 512 Mb) and i want to upgrade it (the laptop has 2 memory slots).

I have used 1memory of 2 Gb and one of the old module of 512 Mb, the operative system recognizes if, but obviously i've lost the dual channel feature.

I'm thinking to replace the 512 Mb module with a 1 Gb module, but even in this case i've not the dual channel.

Is it better this solution or is better to use 2 memory of 1 Gb?

Thanks and Regards,

Francesco

That would be the best scenario, 2 1GB sticks.

Re: Memory upgrade in DV 2008 ea

And what about the solution with 2 modules x 2 Gb, i know that the operative system will not recognize all 4 Gigas, but i think that even 3,5 Gb is better than 2.

Any suggestion?

Thanks,

Francesco

The max for this unit is listed as 2GB but the unit should use 2GB sticks. Be sure that the memory has a return policy just in case they do not work.

Re: Memory upgrade in DV 2008 ea

I have just used a single 2 Gb stick in a slot and it works, so the idea is to buy another one of the same type and put it in the second slot.

I think that the system will recognize about 3,5 Gb that is the maximun for my OS.

Anyway, i'll try it at the shop, so if it doesn't work i won't buy it!

Thanks,

Francesco

Re: Memory upgrade in DV 2008 ea

Unfortunately my laptop is not able to see more than 2,68 Gb... :smileysad:

Anyway, i think that is enough with xp, is is very fast now even when using a virtual machine with 1 Gb dedicated!
