Solution Found!!

just a little way down the chart you'll find...

 

Hewlett-Packard/Compaq Netbooks10 characters

 

with 2 files you can download.  One file is a python script (I have python on my system, so that's the one I used), the other is an EXE file that I did download but have not tried yet.

 

On the HP Mini 110 I was working on, I went through the 3 password thing and got to the point where it was giving me the hash number... I wrote that number down, then ran the python script on my other computer... the script ask for the hash number, I entered it, and it gave me 2 passwords to try.

 

I started up the HP Mini, the 3 password try screen came up... I tried the first password... no good.  I tried the second password... YES!!!  It worked!!! 

 

I have no idea WHY HP would not offer this very simple solution to their customers.
