Motherboard replacement on dv9000 series due to video card crash

My current board includes 256MB of discrete video RAM but according to the HP manual there is an optional board with a video RAM of 512MB.

Can I install the other motherboard without any compatability or performance issues?

FYI, I am running Vista 32 bit and previously upgraded the memory from 1GB to 2GB.

Re: Motherboard replacement on dv9000 series due to video card crash

if its compatible with your notebook and fits physically, this should be possible. the OS just detects (actually the bios does) the change and youll have to uninstall and reinstall some drivers, the same as if you'd do that on a desktop pc.

Re: Motherboard replacement on dv9000 series due to card crash

I have installed a replacement motherboard on my us9700 Pavilion Laptop.  I now have two wires, 1 black marked "1" and a gray one marked "2".  They push on to a pin.  I can not find the pins nor any wiring diagrams or photos to help me  Any ideas? Gary

@gtgibbs

Those two wires go to your wireless card on the bottom side of the laptop.  They need to be fed through a gap near the dvd drive connector.
