My laptop is running slowly

I have no idea what is wrong with my laptop. I have an HP G60 and I recently reformatted it. I haven't done anything really to my laptop since I've gotten it. I added Norton Internet Security and Norton Utilities. Other than that, all I really do is use my laptop for the internet. I noticed just yesterday that my laptop was running extremely slow, freezing, and when I would start it up normally, it would be on the blue window's start up page that shows its loading and it will load for a really long time. I have no idea why my laptop is like this. Like I said, I recently reformatted it and all I do is go on the internet. I go on all safe internet sites so I don't think it could be a virus. Please help me because I don't know what to do and I don't know what is wrong with my laptop!

Is it any faster in Safe Mode?

Yes! I'm on Safe Mode right now and that seems like the only way I can use my computer right now...I tried using it regular earlier but it just went into a black screen...

Ok, so something is running in Normal mode that is not running in Safe Mode.  Since re-installing Windows did it ever seem to work properly?  You could try doing a system restore to a time when you knew everything operated correctly.
