I am using a brand-new Pavilion G7-1321 nr laptop.
Out of the box, I formatted the drive and installed Win7 Ultimate (it came with Home Premium).
Before wiping the drive, I copied the contents of the folder "SWSetup" to a USB drive. After installing the OS, I copied this back to the c drive. It appears to have all of the drivers and utilities.
I installed drivers for everything by going into Hardware Manager, right-clicking on anything that didn't install right, and telling it to update the driver from this local folder. For the webcam, I also had Hardware Manager look on line for the best drivers. It said the best driver was already installed.
When I look in Skype or YouCam, the picture is very blurry and pointed at least 30 degrees off-center. The middle of the image on screen is somewhere over my left shoulder.
When I look at the camera itself above the monitor, there is a small glass circle about 3/16 of an inch across. Behind that is a much smaller hole that looks like the lens. This smaller hole is not centered in the larger hole- it is near the left side. Is the camera physically broken, to make it off-center, or is it supposed to be able to move around in there?
I have a second laptop of the same model, and its camera is centered in the hole and works fine. I have not wiped that one yet.
