I further studied and tested the problem and I must admit that my first impression was wrong. The AMD Radeon does work but it's not controlled in any way by the user. Using the catalyst to set low/high performance for an application doesn't change anything. If an apllication is not capable of running only with the integrated intel, it will automaticaly switch to the Radeon, even if you don't have the ati driver and catalyst installed cause windows still recognize the graphic card as an AMD Radeon 6470 and auto install a very simple driver that still give the chance to use the graphic card.

Are you sure about that?
How did you test and came to the conclusion that ATI Radeon is being used.
When I try running games whose system requirements are far lower than available in the system, the graphic quality is still very poor.
i.e. the game is "unplayable'
