I am finding conflicting info in my search and want to nail down an answer before I spend any money.
Can an HP Envy 17-2090NR be upgraded to 16GB now that 8GB modules are available?

I asked around the office and no one seemed to know the answer about this so I googled the laptop itself and the keyword cheap laptops and found the answer from someone who sold the notebook! simple ;![]()
Yes, you can upgrade the Computers Memory (RAM) to 16GB!
Good luck in upgrading it! I'm sure it will be fun as with 16GB it's going to be even more powerful than it already is.

Thanks for the reply. I acutally decided to take the plunge and ordered some RAM, figuring I could just return it if it didn't work.
As of now, I am up and running on 16GB, so far so good...

I have netbook HP mini 210-1040 NR.
I am trying to find out if SATA controler on MBO is Revision 1.0, 2.0 or 3.0 aka is max transfer rate for that SATA controler 150 MB/s, 300 MB/s, 600 MB/s. I am trying to buy SSD and I need to decide which on to buy for this netbook.
btw.
Just be sure, this laptop has 2 GB max memory limit, DDR2 667 MHz? Any SO-DIMM module with DDR2 memory will work fine inside this netbook or there are some limitations with other manufactures.
Please answer asap. Thanks

It is SATA 2, but you can install a SATA 3 SSD with no issues. Yes you are maxxed at 2 GB Ram and just about any laptop DDR2 will work fine.

I read hp manual and I can't find nowhere if it's SATA revision 1.0, 2.0 or 3.0. I contacted suppot and they said its max transfer speed is 150 MB/s which would mean its SATA rev. 1.0.
One side say one things, other side second thing and I cant find proper manual for your main board.
It's important to me cause if it's rev 1.0 I will buy new netbook and if its rev 2.0 I will buy just SSD.
Please can you point me to your source of informations? Or how to check if its SATA 1.0 or 2.0.
Thanks again ![]()

CPU-Z is a free utitlity that will provide that information. I was simply going by the chipset and its capability but I would not be surprised if it is SATA-1 only. I was 100% sure it was not SATA-3. There is no mainboard manual. These kind of detailed technical specs are not put out to the general public by HP. This Forum is not an official link to HP support. We are just end users and even the handful of HP employees who help out here do so in an unofficial capacity. The chipset is Intel NM10 Express which is supposed to support 3 gbps SATA. It is an improvement over the earlier netbooks that used the Intel 945 chipset with ichs7 storage controller, which was definitely SATA-1 only, like the Mini 110.
