Pavilion Slimline spontaneous poweroff

No warning, no error, just using the system then my monitor goes blank and the system goes dark.

Anyone hit this? I've filed a support ticket, and I'm still within warranty.

Scan for bug.  Run Memtest to check RAM.  Could also be a thermal problem or a dying power supply.  Those gumball machines keep the CPU and GPU boiling hot in a warm room or under heavy load.

Re: Pavilion Slimline spontaneous poweroff

No way on heavy load or high temps. And RAM hasn't been touched.

For heavy load, in one case, the system was totally unattended. I only found out later when I tried to remote into it and couldn't. Couldn't figure it out until I checked on it and it was totally "dark".

As to temps, the room its in is around 62 degrees (daylight basement). I've had it for almost a year, and had no problems prior to this morning.

This is a power supply issue. No bluescreen, and no events -- only an event 6008 after the system is back up, basically saying the system is back up from an unexpected shutdown. Bottom line is that the OS had no warning.
