Pavilion dm4-2070 battery issues

I'm not sure if it's the battery itself or if it's the meter, but the time for the battery keeps changing on the meter. At one point it was at 90% and stated it had about 2 hours of battery life. I checked again and it said that  49% it still has 2 hours. Can someone please tell me what's going on and offer any tips to make the meter more accurate?
