Pavilion dv5230us with brand new mobo having problems

Yeah, I just installed brand new motherboard in my pavilion dv5230us along with a brand new 320gb seagate HDD.  The notebook posts.  The CD reader spins and is recognized in bios but no disks work in it.  tried another working CD/DVD reader also but no good.  Want to update BIOS but usb is responding either.
