Hello all,
I hope someone can answer this problem for me. About 2 weeks ago, my optical drive (hp DVDWBD TS-LB23L) ceased to work properly. It can read CDs, but no longer DVDs or Blu-Rays. This is very frustrating because I have tried almost everything to fix it. (Upper and LowerFilters in the Registry, checking the BIOS, reinstalling the driver several times, even checking the motheroard connection, all to NO avail). Today, however, it read one DVD and I thought, "Oh, it must be alright" but alas, the next DVD I tried failed to work as did a Blu-Ray. Now it is back to only reading CDs. I might also add that now the drive doesn't "spin" very fast anymore. It used to spin much faster when reading DVDs and Blu's but now it just starts to spin and gain momentum when it stops before reaching full speed. Then, it tells me that I haven't inserted a disc. (Maybe it is a speed-parameter issue? voltage problem?...) My laptop is not very old and I take very good care of it, so I don't know what is going on. If anyone knows of anything else I could try to fix it or know if there was a recall on this drive or if HP would do anything to help, I'd appreciate any assistance recieved. Thank you!

I'm having similar issues with my hp Omni 200 PC. My drive is labeled hp DVDWBD TS-LB23P. We were just watching a movie 2 days ago that the drive won't even recognize now. It keeps telling me there's no disc inserted. Then, when I try to run the support assistant or the Windows Fix-It tool suggested, it says either there is no disc inserted, or the media I'm using isn't supported. How can that be when I was just watching the very same movie?!?! I've tried all the solutions suggested to no avail. Plus, when I try to reinstall the driver with the Recovery Manager, the drive isn't even listed. This is VERY frustrating. It's only slightly comforting to see others are having the same problem. I just wish hp would come up with a solution that I can actually use and that works...
