Power Cord

I have a HP Pavillion dv6000 laptop.  So the other day I tripped over my power cord which was plugged into my computer.  This caused the power wire to break.  So now I am using my sister's power cord.  But the trip caused the spot where I plug the cord into the laptop to (I think) be damaged, so it is hard to get power to my laptop, because I need to wiggle it around until it gives my laptop power, and eventually it disconnects, and again and again I have to wiggle the cord around.  It's really annoying, please help me.

As you continue to wiggle the cord around, eventually that connection will break. The connection itself is probably already broken and by wiggling it, you are lining up the contacts and it's barely touching.

 Back up your data now, or you'll have to remove the hard drive to get the data off when the connector fails.

You will probably need to replace the power connector on the system board, or replace the entire system board.

There is a company called laptopjacks.com that specializes in the connectors, and also offers a repair service. If your skilled you can get a replacement jack inexpensively, but it requires dissambling your PC and soldering the new jack in place.

This is not endorsed by HP, and can void your notebook warranty if it's still in warranty. (note that the type of damage you mention is not covered under the warranty either.)

well the one thing you can do is slice into the cord revealing the broken wires and splice them together...

or buy a new power cord unless u can contact hp and ask them to replace its or if possible to fix it for you

Well the good news is this model has a separate power jack board that is easily replaced.  No need to touch the motherboard, it just plugs into it.  This is the part: DV6000 Power Jack Board

Good answer Fixalot. Here is a link to the Manual. Replacing the power jack module is still not easy but way easier than soldering.
