the webcam from my brand new (one week old today) HP ProBook 6450b has just completely vanished.
it no longer appears in the Device Manager (anywhere), and when attempting to install the drivers again, no 'installation complete' message appaers, and it seemingly has done absolutely nothing.
and installing the 'HP Webcam Software' results in the message "setup has determined that your configuration does not support any of the included products"
im at my wits end and this is driving me absolutely insane
sincere thanks for any help!
OS: win7 pro

Missing from device manager, and also when comparing with a like model laptop it doesn't show the 'integrated webcam' in the bios. I'm guessing the cam has failed or the cable came loose....

Did you ever get a solution to this issue? The same thing has happened to me. My webcam has just disappeared from the device manager on my HP G42T-200 CTO Notebook PC. Thanks!

I had the exact same issue with my ProBook 6450b. The webcam was working fine ever since I got the laptop almost a year ago.

still havnt found a solution for the camera yet...
HP clearly doesnt give an arse about their customers after they fork out the money (proven by the lack of answers from HP staff in this thread).
another hp laptop of mine (and seemingly everyone with the same model) has overheated after a few months and it completely destroys everything cause the vents are in the wrong spot (i had to put it in the freezer just so it would boot) HP wont admit it and wont do anything to fix it.
So my Solution to all HP Problems:
BUY A NEW LAPTOP
got a Samsung now, not a single problem, couldnt be happier

I experienced the same problem on a ProBook 6550b where the Webcam disappeared. Also, I had been receiving a pop up notification that a USB device could not be found. I uninstalled the HP Webcam software--in hindsight, maybe I shouldn't have--then unsuccessfully attempted to reinstall the Webcam software. I received the error "setup has determined that your configuration does not support ...".
Next I uninstalled all of the USB controllers, rebooted, then installed HP Universal Camera Driver. Now, at least, "USB Video Device" appears under Imaging Devices, I can select it in Windows Explorer and see video input. It seems this driver has enabled the webcam, though I haven't tested it.
