Well, I recently got a new Motherboard from HP for my Compaq Presario V3904TX and the Original Intel PM965 was replaced with the Wistron 30CE.
Then I my harddrive decided to break, so I had to re-install a new OS which I chose to buy the Windows 7. After installing it, I installed every driver that's needed but when I got to the Intel Chipset Installation Software, everything went well until it loads up to the Intel ICH8 Family USB Universal Host Controller and it sends an error message telling you to exit to installation sofetware. So currently, both of my USB 2.0 plugs are not working since no drivers were installed.
I tried different drivers but none of them worked. So I need some help here guys. Thank you.

Which version of Windows 7?
Is it 32 or 64-bit? (there is a difference)
Have you tried Intel's Driver Update utility?
The Intel utility is purported to automatically determine which driver is required. Your system board's chipset is listed as one of the supported chipsets.
There is no support for Windows 7 for your specific notebook at the HP support portal.
Intel is going to have to be your source and there is no guarantee it will work. The original OS will be your best bet if upgrading to Windows 7 does not work out.
Please post your results.
Best regards,
erico

Windows 7 Ultimate 32x
I/O Controller:
Intel(R) 82801HBM/HEM I/O controller hub (ICH8M) SATA Controller found in AHCI mode
But what I might fear is that the USB drivers have nothing to do with Intel, instead, it might be directly related to my new motherboard HP Services installed for me.

"Intel(R) 82801HBM/HEM I/O controller hub (ICH8M) SATA Controller found in AHCI mode"
Was that an error message that you got from an installation attempt?
For this to work you might end up having to recover the original OS.
When HP does not provide support for Windows 7 and the Intel downloads don't work... you are about at the end of the road for the OS install attempt. Ubuntu Linux should work if you choose to go that route.

Sure. You can dual boot Windows and Linux.
The best way is to buy yourself a spare (or even used) notebook hard disk so you can play around with it.
Here is a how to on YouTube. There is plenty of information available online for dual-booting. Ubuntu is probably the most currently popular and useable distro of Linux around.
