Reduce Shared VGA memory

Hi I'm using a hp pavilion DV4 series laptop and it has got 512 dedicated memory, and further 1 gb is shared for the vga, I need to reduce this shared memory, i tried using BIOS but that option is not there, It has got windows 7 home premium. Can someone help me to reduce the VGA memory.???

Re: Reduce Shared VGA memory

You can't and really don't need to change it. It is not like old time shared memory where it grabs system RAM and makes it unavailable to Windows. The graphics engine will only take from system (Windows) memory if the dedicated memory is full (not likely to happen with 512 of memory) and even then it only grabs it temporarly kind of like a swap file. If you cannot use all the memory you have with Windows there is something else going on. For example if you have 4 gigs installed and Windows is telling you that you have 3, it is not the video but a limitation inherent to a 32 bit OS. You have to install a 64 bit OS to use memory in excess of about 3.25 gigs.
