HP Pavillion 9009nr Windows XP
Left my car door open one evening when bringing in stuff to the house. It rained and my laptop was in the car.
Now I've gotten it to boot on battery, but after a couple of minutes it shuts down. Will not respond at all on AC without the battery in, but if the battery is also in it does give a lightning bolt light to indicate battery charging. Most of the time on Battery it doesn't boot, just lights up a second and then down.
I'm not sure if the AC is charging the battery or if after it sits awhile it has enough stored up to do something on battery, but I am of the mind that it is charging the battery a little.
Any suggestions on what I need to replace or do to get this up? I just bought a new laptop and was hoping to use my HP as a secondary machine running XP for backward compatibility programs since its kinda old.
Thanks in advance,
SEgin

If your notebook got soaked with water, and won't boot into Windows with Battery removed and only the power adapter connected, then the system board (motherboard) is damaged. That, for most people , equates to replacing the laptop.
Water is the archenemy of all electrical and electronic devices. ![]()

Yeah figured. I would really like it back, but the cost of a MB for an old system vs cost of a new laptop. And I already bought a new one for work etc.
So i disassembeled it and I have:
AMD Turion 64x2 CPU
two hard drives
a remote control
two 1GB memory chips
DVD RW with lightscribe
misc parts (keyboard, LCD screen, etc)
slightly damp - For sale
Kidding, the laptop booted occsionally on battery, so i think everythings good except the MB.
