Some keys not working on dv7-1245dx

Hi!

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit on my dv7-1245dx, and some of the keys on my keyboard are not working. They worked fine when I first upgraded to Windows 7 awhile ago, but then they stopped working. However, awhile later they started working again. Now they have once more stopped working. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to make sure my keys continue to work? Is it possible that a driver may be messed up?

Thank you very much for the help.

Re: Some keys not working on dv7-1245dx

Hi,

Try the following.

Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.  Tap away at f10 as soon as you start the notebook to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.

Regards,

Re: Some keys not working on dv7-1245dx

Well, all of my keys seem to be working now. I don't know if it was your tip that did it or what, but hopefully they continue to work.

Re: Some keys not working on dv7-1245dx

Hi,

Good to hear :smileyhappy:

Post back if the problem re-occurs - if some time has passed, I would recommend starting a new thread to ensure it's noticed.

Best regards,

Re: Some keys not working on dv7-1245dx

When I turned my computer on this morning, I had some keys that were not working; a few hours later, they are working.

I'm beginning to think it's probably some type of hardware issue, like a loose connection or something.

I'll probably have to open it up and fiddle with it, but I'm really not looking forward to doing that.

Re: Some keys not working on dv7-1245dx

Hi,

The keyboard isn't to bad to get to and the procedure is detailed starting on Page 71 of your Maintenance & Service Guide.

RE:Spacebaron Envy 6

Good afternnoon,

I recently purchased an HP Envy 6 Laptop, and find that the space bar is not sensitive enough and constantly does not space my words. Fingers are sore and I am very frustrated wiht my otherwise nice laptop: please help...

Re: Space Bar not sensitive enough

Thank you for reply,  I do not wish to change keyboard, just make it more sensitive and easier to type and space typing properly. PG
