TouchPad driver installation on Pavillion g7-64 Windows 7 Home Premium?

Hello,

Irratic operation of Synaptics TouchPad so I uninstalled it from my computer and tried to install the drivers from the HP site.  The drivers will not install correctly.  I tried this several times.  Please help with either a downloadable driver or info.  Thank you.

Hi,

Please Follow the steps

1. Restore Your laptop back to factory default settings (Keep tapping f11, it will boot in to recovery manager). Don't forget to backup the data before running the recovery.

2. Download latest BIOS update from HP website and install it on your notebook

3. Download the latest Touchpad drivers from Hp website and install it

First try with step 2 and 3 if it is not working then try all the steps as i told.

Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.

Re: TouchPad driver installation on Pavillion g7-64 Windows 7 Home Premium?

Well, my system tells me I have BIOs F.62 and when I try to update it using the H.P. Support Assistant that I find on my laptop, I'm told that that is the latest BIOS for my computer.  However, when I go on line at ---------

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&softwareitem=ob-80941-1

I see BIOS F.65 A.  Is that not a later update than the F.62?  If so, I should download that BIOS update then try to download the Synaptics TouchPad software?  Thank you.

Okay, went to this site---

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&lc=en&product=5218698&

and downloaded new BIOs version F.63 then tried to download the TouchPad driver.  No good.  Will try #1 on your list and step 2 & 3.  Will post results.  Thank you.

Re: TouchPad driver installation on Pavillion g7-64 Windows 7 Home Premium?

After consideration, I'm a little leary to restore the computer to factory defaults so I think I'm going to just use the pad without the Synaptics.  Thank you very much for the help.  Much appreciated.

Re: TouchPad driver installation on Pavillion g7-64 Windows 7 Home Premium?

Well, it seems after all that, my Windows Update detected the need for an "update" and sent me the entire download to  my touchpad.  It's installed and working again, after using the Windows Update.  Thank you again for all your help.

Great !!, i believe that the issue was resolved and the touchpad is working.

After updating all the drivers & applications delete all temp files so that the notebook performance will not slowdown.
