Touchpad locking up at times on Presario CQ56 Notebook

Not sure of the best way to describe the issue.  It usually happens after I carry the notebook or go move it from one surface to another.  Suddenly, it's really difficult to get the cursor to move with the touchpad, if it moves at all.  Most of the time, I can "fix" the problem by gently squeezing the case to the left of the touchpad.  It also fixes it if I put the notebook to sleep and wake it back up.  Sometimes it will just resolve on its own after a few minutes.  I've tried changing the sensitivity settings for the touchpad, and that doesn't help.  I have Win7 64-bit, didn't make any changes to the system before this started, and haven't gotten any error messages.  Thanks.
