Why does my trackpad on my dv6 I bought a couple months ago suck so bad? The sensitive, smoothness, response to actions like scrolling are pitiful (adjusting the properties does not help).  Coming from a macbook pro, the experience of using the dv6 trackpad can be annoyingly painful.  When I test other trackpads from other PC manufacturers the experience is about the same and it does not compare to what apple has been doing for many years now. Based on what you just released at CES you are definitely trying to setup up the game and the new envy 14 you released at CES looks sweet, but little things like the trackpad performance can be a huge turn off.

Other than that I love my dv6.

Re: Trackpad

I'm sorry to hear that you're having a problem with your trackpad.  If you can give me the full model number of your dv6, I can check for any software or BIOS updates that may help.

Thanks!

Matty

Re: Trackpad

Hi Matty,

I just found the driver page for my machine and my synpatic device driver is out of date. Isn't the HP Support Assistant suppose to pull down driver updates?

Re: Trackpad

Your system should prompt you to update that driver.  I'll forward this to the support assistant team and ask them to take a look.  Does the driver update improve your trackpad responsiveness?

Re: Trackpad

I'm having problems with my trackpad too.  Is it appropriate to post here, or do I need to start a new topic?  I'm using a g7.  I don't have any problems with using the pad for navigating, it's just that darned 2-finger scroll.  It is very touchy, and I often have trouble "grabbing" the pad to make it work.  I find I have to use the soft part at the very tip of my finger, practically under the nail, and at that, it doesn't always work, no matter if I use light or hard pressure.  And then I'll finally be scrolling, go to reposition, and it won't grab again, so I have to click on the screen in order to scroll again.  I don't understand!  Is there a trick to using this??

This is my first trackpad that works this way (2-finger scroll), so maybe I'm missing something about how it works ............ and with all the fussing I have to do with it, I find the textured trackpad uncomfortable.  I'm going to end up with callouses on my fingertips!

Re: Trackpad

Testing it now, but scrolling still doesn't have that smooth feel. Synaptics has release scrybe for gesture and finer control for their touchpads so once their download link works I will give that a try.

All of my system drivers were out of date and the Intel Chipset Utility and driver http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55095.exe  is missing.

Re: Trackpad

Cindi,

We have seen improvements on trackpad responsiveness with driver updates, so please check the support page for your product and verify if the driver is up to date.  I surely hope our computers don't give you callouses!

Thanks,

Matty

Re: Trackpad

Ryan,

I've sent the request for the support assistant team to look into why updates didn't push to your system.  If you're still having problems after the updates, please let me know.

Re: Trackpad

Matty, it took some work (my computer doesn't seem to like the auto-detect process so I had to manually navigate to the correct driver), but I have downloaded and installed the new driver.  I think it will take some playing to make sure, but so far, responsiveness seems to be a little better.  Fingers crossed that it s an improvement.

Any way to increase sensitivity on the keyboard, while we're at it?  I keep missing characters and always have to proof and correct before I send anything!
