Hello. Trying to replace original 40gb drive with new 5400rpm WD 80gb hard drive. 40gigger still works but has seemed slow and is over 4yrs old. Laptop is Compaq Presario with AMD Sempron 3000+.
So I put the new hard drive in and #1 Recovery CD. It tried to boot from CD drive but didn't work and just gave me "These PC recovery discs do NOT support this PC model."
I put the new drive into an external enclosure and formatted, partitioned it, then copied the D: drive that contains the recovery data. I'm obviously no expert and was just hoping this would be enough to get the recovery process to recognize it. But that didn't work as it just gave me the same "These PC recovery discs do NOT support this PC model."
Can someone please help me? Thanks.

Well, I downloaded Acronis True Image WD Edition from the WD Support Page. I then cloned my old hard drive. Seemed to go smoothly. But now all I get is a command prompt instead of loading the OS. I tried to have it boot from the CD drive using the recovery discs, but it still gives me the "These PC recovery discs do NOT support this PC model." Any suggestions?
