I contacted support to get a new cord that goes from my brick to the wall. It seems that I need the whole cord to be replaced. My question for this issue is because I already got the cord that goes from the brick to the wall, will HP still replace the whole cord as my laptop is still under warranty.
The second issue is that the laptop is not "reading" that there is a CD/DVD drive. I checked in the hardware manager and there is nothing wrong. When I contacted support, they told me that I had to "reseed" the drive. That worked but the drive is not reading any disk that is put into the drive. I'm baffled as to what to do now. Should I recontact support and have them replace the drive?
Thank you in advance for all of your valuable information.

April,
IMO:
No use messing around here when you have a warranty and you can get help directly from HP -- AND get the DVD replaced if it is defective.
This is a great forum. It's not tech support. You have a warranty. Go get support! Smiling!

Hi
You have a couple of options as I see it please find the links given below might help you to fix the issue. If the unit is covered by warranty you might get the part.
Testing and Using the AC Power Adapter
Troubleshooting CD or DVD Drive Detection Problems
Let us know how it goes!

Hi April,
Since you have already got the power cord. from the wall to Brick. the AC adapter (Brick) should be replaced if the computer is under warranty. (unless there is any Accidental damage )
If the CD/DVD drive is detected and present in Device manager and also the Computer window.
the hardware is detected and present.
It might just the be operating system not recognizing the discs then you may consider following the solution below
http://support.microsoft.com/mats/cd_dvd_drive_pro
click on Run Now to install the microsoft fix it to resolved CD/DVD issues.
Thanks if the above solution help you resolve the issue please click on Kudos.
