Unable to type continuously on folio 13

Issue:

When typing continuously, the mouse jumps to different areas of the page and as as result, i have to stop, go back and redit all the typos and then move cursor to the end of the sentence and start again.

I have paid close attention to where my palms and fingers are on the keyboard to understand if it user error.

After 5-6 weeks of this, i am thinking it is the keyboard that may be malfunctioning.

Troubleshooting attempts:

- I have changed the sensitivity settings under the synaptic Clickpad 8.1 and also i have changed the SmartSense settings (set to Max); has not resolved problem

Question:

Has anyone else experienced this issue and what have they done to resolve this issue?  are there specific synaptic clickpad combination settings used that resolved this issue?

Re: Unable to type continuously on folio 13

Check your models driver page for an updated Synaptics driver:

Re: Unable to type continuously on folio 13

Hey whung888 -

Pls help! Were you able to resolve this issue? How?

Just got the folio 13 was thrilled until the same thing happened to me. The cursor skips and jumps around randomly as I am type and trims and screws up my text & paragraphs.

Like you, I tried to exclude palm brushing / human error...can't say I'm 100% sure at this point but seems like the skipping is more than my accidental brushing, if at all.

Not sure if it's a good / bad sign that so far you are the ony other person I've found to have experienced the same issue.

Thanks!

DH

Re: Unable to type continuously on folio 13

Hey Wayne - sounds like you're still having the skipping issue. I wonder if we just got stuck with bad lemons. Just wondering, did the issue get worse / better? did you try getting it exchanged through HP?

Thanks for posting again.

Re: Unable to type continuously on folio 13

Hello

The instructions did not help at all and i am still frustrated.  I am sure that this is happening to more people.  I am hoping that HP service is monitoring this board and can provide some additional help.

Thanks

Wayne

Re: Unable to type continuously on folio 13

It seems like this has happened to other models (linke below)...

http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and/cursor-jumps-around-Pavilion-dv6/td-p/11...

So far I've only seen this issue when I use gmail, but I haven't really had any intensive typing using other programs anyways (just got the laptop). Is your cursor only jumping around in email / browser?

Let me know the scope of your issue. Hopefully this is only a software glitch that can be patched easily.

Thanks again for posting / validating the issue.

Re: Unable to type continuously on folio 13

hello

This issue happens in all applications that i use. when i am in an application e.g. MS word or email, i start typing and the mouse cursor may be in another place on the screen.  And at random times, my typing cursor will jump to the location of the mouse cursor.  i am watching very carefully and have modified the way i type as to not to touch the touch pad while i am typing.

I have maintenace coverage on my notebook but i dont want to call in just yet becase i need my computer so much for work and cannot do without it for very long.

This is very still very frustrating.

Thanks

Wayne

Re: Unable to type continuously on folio 13

I have not seen a resolution to this issue.  I continue to have the same problem of the cursor jumping around when I'm typing.  Updating the Synaptic driver and setting palm-check to maximum has not made any improvement.  Even typing carefully (and quickly) with my wrists lifted well away from the pad can still cause the same issue.

The problem is not specific to one particular machine - all Folio 13 machines I've tried suffer the same problem.

As this thread has gone quiet has everyone given up and either sent their machine back or turned off their trackpad and using an external mouse?

Help please.

Richard.
