Upgrading EAM MEMORY

I have an HP Pacilion Elite PC model m9050 tr and my operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium

The must recent HP scaning of my computer recommended me to upgrade my RAM Memory which at present has

a capacity of 1023 MB.  I do not feel competent enough to open my PC to learn the model and manufacturer's name of the memory.

I believe this is not necessary and that the information should exist somewhere in my computer, but so far I have been

unable to retrieve it.

Therefore I request the assistance of this Forum to answer me three questions if possible.

a) How can I identify correctly without opening the PC the kind of Memory RAM I have so as to buy new units.?

b) I would like to double the present capacity installing two more similar units, as I understand it has to be upgraded this way.

    but I do not know if the model of computer I have can operate properly with 2.046 MB.

c) If there any better alternative, how far can I go augmenting the RAM capacity?

You've got 4 slots. Max 2GB per slot. Type DDR2 PC2-5300, PC2-6400, DDR2 PC2-8500. Your model supports also Dual-channel.

Dual-channel:

Many thanks for your reply.  Considering that according to the opinion of the experts RAM memory is supposed to be installed in identical pairs,

I wanted to know, not only the type of memory I am supposed to have, but the one I actually have.  And because I do not feel competent enough

to open the PC, I thought there was a way of learning the information I need,from people who might have the same PC as myself.

I am afraid I did not make myself clear when presenting my request.  Let me try it again.  I know that I must have in my computer a RAM memory

of the following characteristics... DDR2 SDRAM  speed PC2-5300 MB/sec for a 240 pin type.

Now that I am adviced to upgrade my Memory RAM, I am intending to double my capacity from 1GB to 2GB.  However I do not know which

brand of memory I am using.  I do notknow if I am using any of the many makes that exist, like Sony, Fujitsu,IBM, Kingston, etc.etc....

So, my new questions to all of you is....   Is it important or not important at all to have on 1GB memory Fujitsu and in the next slot another

pair of 1GB but Sony instead of Fujitsu?

It looks as as long as the new pair is made of the same characteristics as described above, the maker is not important.  If I am right, then

I can just go to a PC shop, buy any brand and have it installed.  Am I correct?

Yes, when using Dual-Channel the memory (RAM) should be upgraded in pairs.  The brand of memory will not matter since you'll be using different memory channel (although some elitists will tell you it needs to be the same)  If I were you I would recommend installing more than just a 1 GB upgrade, since memory is so cheap now.  You probably have 2 512MB sticks installed right now...but we can't be certain unless you open up the unit and look.  Installing memory is very easy and you will save money by doing it yourself.  You can see instructions on how to upgrade memory here.  Yes, any shop will be able to upgrade your RAM easily...and they'll probably recommend a higher amount as well.

I would recommend the 5300/6400 RAM from this page.

You may add any memory with 1GB PC2-5300.

If You want to have matched pairs for better performance. Use this guide how to get to Ram memories. It's very easy trust me. After that check producent and s/n number and buy the same model.

There is one program called Everest product of Lavalys which shows every parameter of all devices. You download it from here. I don't remember is there a chance to check with trial version parameters of Ram but You can give it a try.

Install and run it.

To buy the RAM memory I want to upgrade I will need to go to the capital district named

Bodrum the nearest place to find a computer's shop.  When installation made I will inform
