Very Unhappy with my COMPAQ laptop.

I live in India, Allahabad.
I purchased a compaq laptop for my son in Apr,2009. I choosen Compaq that I have heard that the after sale service
of compaq is very good. The person who sold me the laptop ensured that there will be no problem for one year.
2 days ago the flap of my laptop is comeout and and I went to service center. They examined and told that the outside
flap of the laptop is intact but inside DVD drive's lock is broken and this won't be changed under warrantee.
I am really regretting why I didn't purchased a local one, instead of big company one. I mailed every where, nothing is happening.
How can outside flap is intact and insdie lock of the DVD drive is broken?
