Webcam Driver Update for DM3T-1000 Laptop

I am looking for an updated driver for the DM3T-1000 laptop. The laptop is using the stock Windows7 64-bit edition, but the driver is dated sometime in 2006. I have recently started having some issues with Skype where the video locks up. I thought it might be specific to Skype, but I am having similar issues with Video Gchat. Thinking that the gchat issues might be browser-specific, I verified that the problem exists with both Chrome and IE.

 

So I am pretty sure that it is a driver issue. I tried to run the HP Update software, but that crashes upon launch (separate issue). So I hope that someone can point me to where I can download an updated driver.

HP Notebooks used generic Microsoft driver which is located in C:\Windows\system 32\drivers\usbvideo.sys...This issue looks like OS issue or firewall....

Just double checking, you are using HP Webcam and not Cyberlink Filter, correct?

Yes correct, I am using the HP Webcam. I checked the settings in Skype and changed it accordingly.

 

When looking at the entries under the Software - Multimedia section, I see an entry for webcam software. Does that include drivers as well?

Hi,

 

Yes it includes the drivers, but with reference to the previous post by Cyclops, the package will also install the HP Webcam software (Cyberlink).  This likes to run at start up but can be stopped in the usual way by deselecting it in msconfig and applying the change.  You may need to try this to see if it resolves any or all of your issues.  If not, you can always uninstall it

So yes, that is where I was heading next...Have your tired using the webcam using HP MediaSmart Webcam to check if it freeze in that application...

HP MediaSmart Webcam is just and application it dones not contain the driver...

So wait, it seems like I'm getting conflicting information.

 

Does the HP Webcam Software package include an updated driver?

 

I don't need to install any other software on the laptop. I just want an updated driver.

HP Webcam Software Package, does not include the driver in it...it is just Webcam Application that is it...

As mention before, the webcam driver is located in located in C:\Windows\system 32\drivers\ , file name usbvideo.sys.

So as mention, I would suggest you trying the webcam using HP mediaSmart Webcam, to see if it freeze there was well...
