Hi,
I have a HP TM2t-1000 running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. I am in the process of doing a clean reinstall of the operating system and software. I used the bare Win7 install from the MS website, not the HP recovery CDs.
I wondered if there is a prefered driver version for the Synaptics touchpad? HP driver version 1.00A allows you to turn off the touchpad by tapping the upper left corner of the the touchpad. The later versions don't have this feature. The later versions, particularly those from the Synaptics website, add settings to make this a much more usable touchpad.
Any suggestions as to a favorite driver version for the touchpad.
Thanks,
BeaverheadRiver

Hi:
If you find the drivers from the Synaptics website have features that you prefer and they work fine with your PC, then there is no problem for you to use them.
I use the latest synaptics drivers from their site for my notebooks, graphics, audio, and network drivers from the manufacturer's websites where I can.

Paul,
Thanks for the quick reply. I installed Synaptics version 15.3.27.1 from Windows Update. Driver works well and gets along with the MS Presenter mouse.
The "tap off" feature in the top left corner off the touchpad does not stay "off". It pops back on in a couple of seconds. Any fix for this? Any version after HP 1.00A that the "tap off" feature works in?
Thanks,
BeaverheadRiver

Hi:
I wish I had an answer for you, but I don't.
I don't have that option on any of my touchpads.
I let that very same MS update install on my dv6810us, and it fouled up my touchpad so bad, I had to uninstall it.
I still don't know why that happened but since the driver I had on there at the time worked perfectly for me, I reverted to that one, and hid the touchpad driver update in the windows update program.
