Would it be possible to upgrade my HP HDX16's processor in the future?

[ Edited ]
Hi all,

I'm currently using a Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, T6400 at 2.0 GHz and was wondering if in the future I want to upgrade, I can do so with ease and cheaply.

Will having to buy laptop processors + upgrading them myself cause too much trouble, and be too expensive?

Does HP offer any programs to help you upgrade?

edit: if it helps, my model number is HP HDX X16T-1200 CTO Premium Notebook PC

Replacing the CPU on a notebook pretty difficult to do if you don't know what you're doing.  You have to disassemble the entire notebook in order to install it, and upgrading the CPU will usually result in higher temps and higher battery drain.  It can be done though.

The fastest CPU you can install is  the Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile processor T9800 - 2.93GHz (HP PN: 507951-001) and there are of course, others.

HP doesn't offer upgrades, you'd have to have a local computer store do it...and yes, it will void any HP warranty currently in effect.

Hey, thanks for the quick response.

Which you say the processor that I'm using right now would be sufficient enough to last for a while?

Or should I have gotten a better processor?

Also... do you know how to downgrade to Vista 32 or Windows XP?

The processor you currently have is a good processor, but it's the weakest processor when compared to what you could have gotten installed.  As for downgrading, it's not worth the trouble...stick with your current OS and if you need help with compatible programs we'll be glad to find some.
