Re: a question about internal hdd's

Internal hard drives will last longer then the primary drives because they go to sleep (the arm gets parked and the platter stops spinning) when they are not accessed after a time. How ever the grease in the bearing does dry up from the heat of the laptop which causes them to fail.

You can connect them through USB with an external hard drive caddy. Make sure that you order SATA 2.5 inch.

Here is just one example, this is the one that I use.

An internal hard disk is hermetically sealed.

As long as it is not used and doesn't corrode externally it will last a very long time.

Re: a question about internal hdd's

All the cases have some sort of electrostatic protection built in to them _ most are metal. If it does get zapped the static goes around the drive. Ounce they're inside they're safe.

What you do need to worry about is when you are initially opening up your laptop and handling the drive, make sure that your are statically discharged.
