I am trying to repair a Pavilion dv6809wm with Windows Vista Home Premium. When the power button is pressed, the lights come on, I can hear the fans turn and then they go off in about 2 seconds. In another 2 seconds, they come back on. This cycle repeats over and over. The only way to stop it is to take the battery out. Nothing ever comes up on the screen. I've taken the battery out to see if perhaps the battery is shorting out. I've changed the RAM and hard drive just to make sure those aren't the problem. I'm now sure it's something beyond my repair knowledge.
Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hi,
My best guess given the Model No. of your notebook and the symptoms you describe, is that this problem is related to the Nvidia Chipset - if this is indeed the case, it's really beyond the scope of a home repair, however the service offered on the link below has a good reputation for fixing this issue.

I'm sure this is a solution to the problem. I can most likely fix it. I'll check with the customer to see if that's what he wants to do. I really appreciate your help. Thank you.
