broken plastic zif for keyboard on hdx 16

when taking apart my hdx i manage to break a plastic connector for the keyboard that was on the motherboard. i still have both parts to it, but in half. another thing is, even if it wasn't broken i see nothing on that part that would connect the ribbon from the keyboard to the motherboard.

Well you are likely going to need a new motherboard. The zif connector is very hard to locate. I have seen people make guerilla repairs made from hot glue and even bamboo sheeting like for a WWI model plane, but it is not a permanent fix and may not work. Can you post a picture of what you did and we can use it to explain how the ribbon cable fits in there.

Yeah you really broke it. That kind is the most fragile. The ribbon cable slides under the black thing and then it snaps down on top.

Re: broken plastic zif for keyboard on hdx 16

Sure that is really about the only way to do it but make sure the zif connector is there before you buy it. And you also need to be sure that nothing on your board is broken such that a new zif connector will not attach correctly.
