charging issue for hp G61 laptop

Hi

ive had a hp G61 laptop for over 2 years and yesterday without any previous issues my laptop wont charge up or operate from the mains. I've checked the wires etc and they are all connected and in theory they should be charging up my laptop. i think the issues are based with the power input or the battery.

i'm pretty much stumped, it would be great if someone could help.

Two years for a battery, that's really good. How often you charge your battery ?

Remove the battery to see if it will boot with only the power adapter. If it does not, leave the power adapter connected , look at the power led and gently wiggle the power connection at the notebook wile tapping the power button. Does the led light up intermittently and try to start up?

i've tried that and it hasnt worked. the light isnt coming on my notebook to say that power is going into it. do you think it could be motherboard?

I would suspect the power adapter first. Have you tried this on another power outlet or used another appliance to verify that it is working?

Do you have a friend who has the same HP notebook who might let you test your power adapter on his or vice versa for troubleshooting?

I've haven't been able to check it but I'm going check with a friends HP and see if its the cord. Thanks again
