I just bought the dv4-1000et, a demonstration model, but the problem is that if the book gets a cpu-temperatur about 50°C (everest and speedfan), the fan starts to blow as loud as it's not possible to watch a dvd cofortable, not full speed, but loud, and the next thing is, that it won't stop blowing at this speed till I shut down the pc and wait a short time, instand of a CPU temperatur allready at 40°C.
The cooler is 99% dust free, a bios-update to F24 changed nothing, allready turned off fan allways on in bios, energy-plan is ballanced, no diffrence between battery or ac-source.
I'm happy about every help

I already tried to search for the problem, but nothing is equal to my problem, it still blows, instant of low temperatures. I think I will try out all bios versions, may this is the solution. ![]()
*I thought all versions are available, but only the actual one is online.

First cleaning the fan --> starting outside with a vacuum cleaner at the outlets and second: (hardcore) opening up the laptop -->thorough dust bunny removal and redoing CPU thermal interface material (silicon grease basically or AS5) are the norm for resolution of fan loudness and temperature problems. Flashing the BIOS is not normally the solution and is more risky than the first (non-technical) option.
But, of course it is your laptop.

That's not my problem, there is no dust visible, the temperatures are low, but the fan blows all the time.
When i boot up, the fan runs up to full speed, and then turns off, that's normal, I know, but if the temperature raise up about to 50°C after 15 min net-use, the fan won't turn off, no matter how low the temperatures sink, only a restart helps.
Or do you wan't to tell me that it's normal that the fan don't turn off at 37°C CPU temperature?

Upon further research I find myself agreeing with you on the viability of a BIOS update.
It is indeed possible that an updated BIOS has upgraded fan control mamagement module written into the code.
Aonther alternative to consider is changing the Power Option selected as default, from within the Control Panel.
It is unfortunate that HP does not list on a regular basis, release notes which would detail what has changed in an updated BIOS ROM file. That would simplify things by removing the guesswork in deciding to update or not..

Now you've understand me, but I already updated to the last bios-version, and i think the old one, which was preinstall, wasn't better, and the old one's are not available anyway.
I also tried all energyplans, but the fan still isn't more silent. ![]()

It is possible that during assembly the thermal interface material was incorrectly applied and it was not noticed by quality asurance during the assembly process.
It might not be a bad idea, if possible and if you bought your laptop in a store, to go and see what CPU temps under load the same model on display has. If they are
indeed considerably lower under the same load...return the laptop for a replacement as defective from manufacture.
