dv6-6140us touch pad backlight

7 DAYS and touch pad back light just quit? someone please tell me i am not wrong in liking hp tech? is there some setting that controls this feature or is it just hardwired?

i have full function of the touch pad. if i double tap the upper left corner, the on screen display tells me touchpad disabled and the red led on the top illuminates. if i double tap again, on screen display tells me touch pad enabled and the red led goes out, but the white border doesn't illuminate.

sorry, i have a bad attitude. i found the solution in another post. fn+space turns the light on and off? where is the information on this?

yeah i couldnt figure out why mine went out in 4 days...  I was thinking this is what i get for buying a off the shelf pc. lol

i was replying to another hp post when the light just suddenly went out. totally baffled me, and still does, how i was able to hit fn+space to turn it off by accident. one might think that it would be turning on and off by accident all the time with these big paws!

THANK YOU!!!  You saved a Staples electronics manager from taking a trip to the hospital today.  I was just about to get in the car and drive 20 miles to Staples to throw my Pavilion dv6 notebook directly in the store manager's fact.  This is my second of the same model--the first one had a bum web cam (no power, no show in device manager, swapped in hard drive from one with functioning cam, still dead) straight out of the box and had to be exchanged for new one.  After the touchpad light on this one died after three days, I wasn't sure who i hated more HP or Staples.  Thought checking the HP forum was a long shot, but I am admittedly wrong.  Guess i owe them both an apology and you, kind sir, a gracious thank you.  

P.S.  I agree: where the hell is the documentation on this function + space bar "feature"?
