I have a dv8t and the fan has started giving out a slight clicking noise when running at lower speeds. When the laptop is under heavy use and the fan speeds up, it sounds normal. When sitting at idle with the fan running slowly, it clicks like maybe the fan is out of balance or hitting something.
If I give a sharp smack on the speaker cover along the left side above where the fan sits, the noise often goes away. But, it comes back within a few minutes. The noise does get annoying when I am sitting at my desk for a long period of time.
Should I replace the fan, or just wait to see if it dies?
I looked at some of the disassembly videos, and it looks like getting to the fan is a big job. Anyone done it? Difficult?

You might blow some canned air through the vents, clean out the dust bunnies.
