hello all. if your like me and own a hp pavilion dv9700, you have overheating issues. well i got tired of it and decide to do a fan mod, its not hard and easy to do. all i did was dissasemble myy laptop and took out the fan. now heres the fun part. take a dremel and cut out the old fan of the plastic houseing. now, get yourself a fan from a samsung X460, position it on the plastic, make a few holes and screw it in place. you see the x460 fan s a blower style fan that pushes out more air then the stock dv9700 fan. it also has a higher rpm and cfm rating then the dv9000 fan. the x460 fan only has three wires coming out of it so the rpm sensor wont work, but the computer will still read it and control it. you then reassemble the laptop and enjoy a much cooler running dv9700. there is a little more noise, but its worth it. this mod will also work on the whole dv9000 series, so i hope this post helps people with there dv9000 laptops. heres the fan i used.

Very cool (literally) but I don't think there are going to be too many takers. Thanks for the report.
