dvd burner won't burn

My HP Pavillion DV6000's LightScribe DVD+RW Multi-Recorder doesn't burn DVDs.  It goes through the motions, and acts like it's writing fine, but it never completes the DVDs into usable data.  I use old DVD+R 4x or 8X dvds.
