Re: error message about the cooling fan failing and the laptop is over heating

First thing to try is to find the vent grille on the laptop. Stick a bent-out paperclip in there to stop the blades from spinning out of control and also blow in some compressed air. The fan might just be stuck with a dust clog and you can maybe loosen it. If that does not work, you will likely have to replace the fan. The message is serious and without a working fan your laptop will not last long. Replacing the fan is a pretty big repair job but post back if you want instructions to do it yourself.
