how do i recover my product key code if i deleted microsoft in error from my notebook.

I deleted my windows xp in error, then I purchased Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 and wanted to install the new software.  I keep getting the msg: INCORRECT PRODUCT KEY CODE. Is there a way for me to install my new product?  thank you

i would like to know more details when you say that you deleted windows XP did you just delete the windows folder or uninstall the complete windows?? Also the incorrect product code error- are you getting this while installing windows XP or the office 2010??

Not the folder, but the complete windows. When I power up my notebook a window pops up and says, "this copy of windows must be activated with microsoft before you can log on. Do you want to activate windows now." I select yes, and the next window says "you did not enter a valid product key." Then the set of 5 boxes are there to enter the key code. I then enter the product key for the office 2010.

When it asks for the product key you need to enter your windows product key and not the office 2010 key as it needs to activate your windows first......

Your COA or Product Key is located on the bottom of your laptop.

Make sure your date and time are correct.

That's the problem. I can no longer read the code, its worn off (3yrs old). And I dont have it anywhere else...

I have the same problem. We can no longer read the Windows product key for the Vista operating system on the bottom of our laptop. Is it possible to trace our product key using the serial number of the computer. We purchased the HP laptop thru Staples and the operating system was already installed.
