hy.i have a hp pavilion dv6 with an intel i3 cpu and a Nvida g105m GPU. i fell like it heats a bit too much when i play games on it. i read similar posts noticing that many users have encountered this problem.i read that they didn't put thermal paste on the heatsink. is it worth dissasembly to verify/put on some termal paste?

If you're still under warranty, do not take it apart. Call HP and have them evaluate it.
The machine will indeed get warm/hot when you are playing a game or putting stress on the computer. The only thing that would be odd is if the fan doesn't come on. As far as temperature, you should only be concerned with the temperature of the top case, making sure it has proper ventilation underneath.
Case in point: I was ripping some AVCHD videos and the fan on my DV7 goes wild. The top case is warm to the touch. Same thing as when I'm playing Portal or any other game, the GPU is the real heat generator.

Any laptop is expected to heat up when there is load on h/w resources like processor, graphics etc. You should only worry if it "overheats" on using computer for basic tasks like browsing, playing music etc.
In most scenarios, notebook would shut down randomly or immediately because of heating issues which is cause of concern else everything should be fine.

Hello to you all! I have a Probook 4720s, and average temperature of laptop is 65/70°C per core.
I have: intel i3-370M, 3GB DDR3, 320GB hard drive, ATI Radeon HD 5470. When i run some game that is from 2006+ (so nothing fansy) heat goes to +97°C per core, TJ is on 105 so its close.
When I run prime95 test laptopsurvives the torture but temperature goes up to 103°C and sometimes laptop just turns off.
Is this normal??
